Design, Development, and Characterization of Film Forming Spray as Novel Antifungal Topical Formulation for Superficial Fungal Infections

Abstract: Introduction: Miconazole Nitrate is prescribed as an antifungal agent in conventional dosage forms. To mask the disadvantages of sticky creams and their tendency to rub off, intelligent regimen needs be designed. Objectives: The present study aimed design, develop, characterize (0.5% w/v) film-forming spray for treatment superficial fungal infections nails, such Tenia Onychomycosis. Materials Methods: Eutectic mixture Menthol Camphor ratio 1:1 was used enhance permeation solubilize polymers, i.e., Eudragit L-100 Ethyl Cellulose, provide a cooling effect. Results: prepared formulations were evaluated various critical parameters, based on results obtained, Formulation F1 exhibited drug content 91.82% 83.75% % Cumulative release through Eggshell membrane found best-suited formulation. further chosen carrying out in-vitro studies shed snakeskin Ophiophagus Hannah (Cobra), which gave cumulative 72.453 %, pH 5.8 evaporation time four minutes yielding non-sticky film. clear appearance formed Uniform, non-sticky, flexible films. average required 50% 120-180 min, transport kinetic best fitted into Korsmeyer’s-Peppas model. Conclusion: concluded that transdermal would efficient treating nature will prove practical approach delivery topical agents.
